About the directors

Dr Dave Jennings - programme director Design and Build

Dave has extensive experience computer networks, having worked on Coloured Book software, an early open network and forerunner of the Internet.

During his career he has successfully tackled many complex software engineering related projects ranging from embedded software for medical devices using Object Oriented techniques to developing communications and network services and remote diagnosis for systems in hostile or difficult to access environments.

Dave is a thought leader in the use of tools for software development having been involved with automated development for more than 25 years, with Object Oriented Design since 1990 and with UML since 1996.

He has developed a wide range of software related skills including knowledge of numerous packages, systems and methodologies. He has extensive experience in the application and customisation of UML tools, including Rational Rose and Rhapsody. He has developed a number of labour saving customisations for the tools we employ to enhance their effectiveness and reproducibility.

He has published journal papers in Electrical Impedance Tomography and signal processing and written a number of whitepapers on software development and techniques.

He is also competent in the technical professional use of both French and German.

Esther Jennings - programme director Requirements Management and Testing

Esther is an experienced Requirements Management practitioner. She is an expert with DOORS requirements management tool and uses it to support her work with customers to elicit accurate specifications for design and build projects.

Esther is also responsible for software testing, and all program verification and validation phases. She uses software tools to support her activities creating automated test harnesses to improve quality and reduce risk. She is an exponent of the TraceIT® tracer which allows traceability between requirements and design artefacts, enabling regulatory compliance to be demonstrated.
